After unpacking the download, I tried to connect but apparently I needed some extra software to connect to MySQL.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><a title=\"Installing Oracle SQL Developer\" href=\"http:\/\/download-uk.oracle.com\/docs\/cd\/B32485_01\/doc\/install.110\/b28240\/install.htm\" target=\"_blank\">This<\/a> link on the&nbsp;Oracle site shows&nbsp;the following table. The mysql-connector-java can be found <a title=\"mysql-connector-java\" href=\"http:\/\/ftp.plusline.de\/mysql\/Downloads\/Connector-J\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">I could not find where to put these files, so I used Google again to see if somebody had written something about this. And luckily, <a title=\"Roland Bouman's blog\" href=\"http:\/\/rpbouman.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Roland Bouman&#8217;s blog<\/a> had a <a title=\"Oracle SQL Developer 1.1 Supports MySQL\" href=\"http:\/\/rpbouman.blogspot.com\/2007\/01\/oracle-sql-developer-11-supports-mysql.html\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a> on this issue. It&#8217;s a step-by-step walkthrough of installing the connector for MySQL. My guess is that installing the connector for SQL Server is pretty much the same. I don&#8217;t have a SQL Server database at my disposal, so I couldn&#8217;t test this, but my guess is that it will work likewise to the MySQL connection.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">I don&#8217;t know what you can do with MySQL can do, except for being a datastore, but that&#8217;s mainly what SQL Developer can do for you. Play with SQL to try out your queries.
